Costume design

The reason for why I have chosen these 3 costumes as I believe that they all represent the indie genre. I believe that these will appeal to my target audience as they will be able to see that the genre of this magazine  is indie and they might make them want to read the magazine as they could be costume design examples inside.

I have chosen Alice as my model for my magazine as I believe that she represents the indie genre very well as she wears these type of clothes on a daily basis. As well as this the light reflects well of her face meaning the camera shots will look good.

My Demographics

My demographics will be aimed at BC1C2's as this allows me to keep the magazine professional as well as be able to aim my magazine at people who are aged roughly 16-24 years old.

Demographics

What are demographics? -Demographics is something that a magazine company will use to decide what target audience they will be aiming their magazine at. these include things such as age, gender, race, education and income level. these can fit into the demographics table which is shown below. By looking at this table of the demographics, it allows us to see and understand how to target a product at a certain target audience and see what group different people will fall into. it also allows us to differentiate how to appeal directly to an audience. A magazine company can also use the demographics table to see what type of free gift they could put with the magazine. for example, if you are aiming the magazine at a rich audience then you could provide a free CD with the magazine whereas if you was aiming it at a lower demographic then you could provide a free poster or wrist band. They can also help you to understand what stories you could include in your magazine because a lower demographic might not want real long words within the magazine that they do not understand whereas a higher demographic might want these long words within the magazine. Finally, the table will also allow a magazine company to decide on a price that they will be setting the magazine at as they can charge more money for a magazine that a higher demographic audience would buy and a lower price for a lower demographic audience.

Final product

The Evaluation

                               The Evaluation

What have you learnt from completing this task? - The things that I have learnt while completing this task have been things such as the basics of photo shop so that I know how to edit photos that I would like to use. I have also learnt how breaking things up into different section helps manage your time better as you know what tasks you have completed and what tasks you still have to do. However, the main thing that I have learnt throughout this task would be how to create/design a front cover as I know what things are included and what places they all go in.

How have you used technology? - I have used a range of different technology in many different ways. one piece of technology that I have used mainly would be the computers. I have used computers to create my final product and be able to put all of my work onto my blog. This has helped me as I know what blogs I have posted and what others that I still need to post. computers have also helped me because I have been able to create my front cover to the magazine by using photo shop. Another piece of technology that I have used is cameras. I have used cameras by taking photos so that I could use the ones that I liked. Without a camera I would of had any photos and they wouldn't have looked clear and professional.

What would you change if you had to do this task again? - the things that i would have changed if i were to do this task again would be to give myself more time to actually complete all the tasks without rushing it all last minute. i would also take different photos from different angles instead of just taking a handful and choose the best one. Another thing that i would change if i had to do this task again would be to come up with more stories that i could include on the front cover so then i could pick out the best ones that people may be more interested in. this could also link to the fact that i would choose stories that all link together in some way instead of just picking out random ones that have nothing to do with the theme of the magazine.

Featured Stories

                            Featured Stories.

The perfect way to keep on top of everything - Giving little tips will be good for students as some people find it hard to manage their time. A little tip could be that they can make a homework time table so they can manage their time that way.

Whats better Apple or Samsung? - Using technology could make people want to read the magazine as teenagers care a lot about what technology is new.

Whats trending now?- teenagers like to know whats trending at the minute so they can get the new style before everyone else. including this will make people want to read so they can see the latest trends before anyone else.

Coursework- What to do if you're stuck - Giving people advice will help people get through college so they know that they aren't alone through all the coursework and work they have to complete.

Name Ideas

These are all 10 of my name ideas. the one i like the most is 'Wicked Wyke' as I believe that this has a ring to it and it could mean 1 of 2 things, the fact it could have good information in it or bad information. as well as this i would also say its quite catchy and memorable.

However after much thinking I have decided to go with a new name called 'College Life'. I decided to change the name as I believe this will be more suited to to a college student and people will be able to recognise that this is a college magazine and could maybe relate to it.

Mood Board

I have used a range of ideas for what i think teenagers would enjoy to see inside my magazine and what teenagers are nterested in. These ideas are shown in this mood board.

Conventions Research

1. The skyline is always at the top of a magazine page if its included and it usually tells you that the magazine has ‘exclusive’ information inside
2. Secondary stories lets you know what else is going to be inside of the magazine. This is usually   stories that will make people want to buy the magazine.
3. The barcode is mostly on the front page of a magazine.
4. The price is placed under the barcode so people know where to find it and how much they are paying.
5. The main Image is usually in the centre of the magazine front cover and is usually someone well known like a celebrity. Using a celebrity or a well known face as the main image might make people to buy to buy it as they might want to read more about the person on the front cover.
6. The plug is included to promote things such as competitions and usually stands out so it can intrigue people to take part in them.
7. The Main title, also known as the Mast head. This has to be eye catching as people want to be able to see what the magazine is called from a distance away. Usually in a colour that stands out so that it is easy to read.

Colour Scheme

The colour scheme i am going for is number 9 as i believe that yellow, purple and black all go well together. Also i believe that these three colours will make my magazine stand out and will catch the audiences eye and make them want too look at the magazine as well as maybe make them want to read what is inside the magazine.
